A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his first championship for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a former number one, has experienced a torrid season, managing just one match at the big events and suffering a setback at the American major.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - caused him dropping out of the top ten and finally splitting with long-term trainer Cervara.

Presently working with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested competitive win over opponent Moutet.

It is his first title following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface since March of that year.

The win also means Medvedev has secured 21 victories at twenty-one distinct events.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," said world number 14 Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, including in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive strategy and frequent reactions on court had prompted observers to wonder if his capacity to play at the highest level was finished.

But the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and play assertively, supported by an better service.

Medvedev came back from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, taking 4 of the final five games to go ahead.

Both players traded breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to create a decider.

The opponent saved four early-game break points in a tight deciding set before the Russian broke to that score to close out the victory.

Appropriately, the winner clinched the title with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman unable to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
